Important Legacy Questions
Hello everyone,
I have some basic questions I was hoping you could help answer about the Legacy. I am new to all Scoobies, so if these are rather rudamentary questions, I apologize.
First, what engine is available in the Legacy currently. I was told it was a de-tuned version of the EJ-20 thats currently in the STi. Is this true? Also, are they getting turbos on them or are they normally aspirated?
Second, are there the standard slew of Stage 1 upgrade parts available for the Legacy as there is for the Impreza or not?
Finally, what month of the year is the new model year released. I have already seen 04 Imprezas on dealer lots, but I haven't seen 04 Legacies yet. Are they released at different times of the year? Also, just to confirm, is the Legacy due for a redesign next year?
I appreciate any answers you may have. My current lease is up in Oct 04 and I am really looking forward to upgrading to a Scooby! Thanks again.

Right now the Legacy has a EJ25 motor w/165hp. The new Legacies will have various motors: 2.5L Turbo AVCS 250+/250+,
3.0L H6 AVCS 240-245/220-225, 2.5L either SOHC or DOHC AVCS 170/166. There are stage kits availabe for Legacies but nowhere near as many parts that are available for the RS. Look on Cobbtuning, they have pretty good quality products for Legacies. The new Legacy should come out the first quarter of 04 if I'm correct, but you better look into it. And yes, the new Legacy has been redesigned if you havent noticed from the pics (or have you even seen pics of the new Legacy?) Click on Legacy/ouback on WRXFORUM.com and there is currently a thread w/pics of the new Legacy.

In addition to legacy specific parts, some impreza/wrx/forester parts will fit. This is more true for older leg's but I believe it is true for the new ones as well.
