Idle Air Control Problem - Intake a Problem?
Hey everyone, I have a problem with a rough idle. I have a 98 Legacy GT, all stock except for an Injen Cold Air Intake. I went to the dealership about the problem and they told me it was the IAC valve, and that the intake was probably causing the problem because there is no longer a stock airbox. This sounds like a load of crap to me since I know several people who have intakes on Subarus and have no problems. Any ideas?
I would be hesitant to take the dealership's advice on this, unless
they are reputable and will give you the straight, no BS answers.
They will give you the MOST conservative answer they can, so as
to cover their asses.
I ran an intake for a long time without IAC problems. Check out the
IAC valve and clean it a bit and see what it does. Also, check the PCV
valve, and replace it if it's old. It costs like $1 and can affect your idle.
