GT/WRX conversion
I have a 1996 GT legacy Twin Turbo.
For a numebr of reasons I want to ditch the Twin Turbo Setup and move to an Impreza/WRX Single turbo.
I would like to use as many stock parts as possible. For arguments sake, imagine starting with complete WRX nosecut and grafting the complete engine intact into the Legacy.
I would expect to use a Link computer.
What points will the graft meet at? the only significant one I can think of so far is the computer and wiring loom. I have been told that the WRX computer and Legacy loom are incompatible. Why? What's so different?
Could I make an plug adapter to bridge the gap? Why not?
Does anyone know if this conversion has been done before?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hey dude first things first are you on any other boards like Toyspeed or simlar?
And ya questions bout the turbos why dont you just ditch the factory turbos and upgrade to aftermarket and just upgrade everything else i reckon it's a better setup with the TT?
Just my 2 cents

Nope I'm not on any other boards except Yahoo B4 Legacy group.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/legacyb4
But both sites attract different crowds from different countries with different knowledge, skills, experience and opinions.
Since this site allows a thread to remain for a relatively long time, I thought it is a better forum for getting topical answers rather than having conversations.
Regarding ditching the factory turbo's.. Thats what i'm trying to do!!!
The problem is the general lack of knowledge and aftermarket replacements for the TT's.
I could of course upgrade the turbo's to something more robust, but I still have the same architecture and inherent weak points that go with that. In addition, I still don't have a flexible upgrade path.
Basically I spend a lot of money, acheive little, and have limited options for future impovements.
If I convert to a Single Turbo, I have a much simpler setup. I can crank up the boost without fear of my primary turbo going supernova. And I can now make use of the dozens of computers, manifolds, and turbos available for WRX's.

I had a look in a wreckers yard a couple of days ago...
Legacy computers and Imprezas are very different pin configurations...
Does anyone know what a GT Forrester computer looks like?
