According to Subaru's home page, the "Performance Muffler" enhances vehicle performance, exhaust note and appearance.
(Saw it listed as an option on the 2.5 legacy gt, and Im guessing it is available on most if not all their cars)

Just wondering, what exactly is the performance benifit of this muffler?

 

It sounds a little better. As far as performance? Meh. I started out with the stock muffler, got a Bosal Brospeed Subaru Performance muffler and liked the sound. THEN I got a (used) Stromung dual-tip, now THAT made a difference.

I have no idea. BUT, you are in Spokane. Maybe, just maybe, I might have room to bring it over in a couple of weeks and we could try.

Though I am just remembering how big those suckers are, and current travel configuration of the wagon (with the baby) may not be condusive to bringing it over.

On the other hand, my wife and I were thinking of going over separatley (her leaving earlier than me). I'll tell ya what, if I ever manage to get it over to spokane, we'll try to get it on your car.
