EJ20 into 96 Legacy?
Has anyone done this swap? I have the opportunity to get an engine and ECU out of a 02 WRX. I have a 96 Legacy Outback wagon with the 2.2 L and about 135K on it. I don't want it for speed but mainly power on hills. Are there any fitment issues or other problems I should be aware of?

Hmm,
Look below in the posts at Cajual's post of pics of his car.
Although it is me truly looking at the turbo, I was trying to see where everything fits..., not steal it..

Yeap as Totech said... i've done the ej20 swap into my 97 Legacy GT. Besides the engine, you're gonna need:
- WRX ecu
- WRX crossmember
- intercooler
- MAF box
- uppipe, downpipe/cat
- all the wiring harnesses
- boost controller
- fuel pump
- power steering resovoir
Some creative hosing work will need to be done to use your rad and you'll probably want to get a new exhaust too. It'll bolt right up to your tranny.
You can read more about it here:

Cajual,
Thanks for the info. It gives me a good idea of what I am going to need for my "summer project". By the way, really enjoyed the pictures of your Legacy. You did a great job on it.

Cajuals car is sweet.......Chris etc did an awesome job on it.
I'm personally going the Legacy 2.2 turbo (from my '91) into a post '97 GT or Limited Wagon, PE1820, front mount, 550's...should make a nice daily driver.

My car was NOT done by Chris @ i-speedusa. I agree the pics of the cars I've seen done by him look sweet and from what I've heard he does a great job. However, I need to give credit to Yoshio at Japanese Automotive. He did an awesome job on my car and is one of the best tuners in North America:

You could just get a front clip from a matching Legacy here in Japan and do the conversion with it. That way the wiring should be the same and you've got all of the cars needed. It would be easier then the 02WRX setup and the EJ20 Legacy from here in Japan would have more hp to start off with.
