strange A/C noises

strange A/C noises

i have a 01 legacy gt, with 45k on it and with manual hvac controls. Lately, whenever i turn on and off the A/C it makes like this obnoxious moaning sound when turned on and off, like a moan/hummmmm, that lasts about 4-6 seconds, sounds like it is coming from the heater box, but i can feel the hum in the ac line going from the dryer to the condenser up front, anyone have any ideas? thanks in advance

If you bought your car from a subaru dealership, shouldn't this all be covered under their 3 year warrenty?

subaru has 3 year 36k warranty

Car Info: Mazda Protege '02 (Wishing protege has AWD and a H6 twin turbo)

I suppose it could have vents that are opening and closing when you switch on the a/c. My older cars made a definite "thunk" when it was switched to ac.

I suppose you could have debree (sp?) stuck in one of the vents causing a lil bit of rubbing and slow down. Its hard to diagnose something without being there youself with cases like these
