removing spark plug wires???

Tune up and lube time for my 2005 Legacy Outback. I changed all the fluids now I'm trying to replace spark plugs and wires and I have discovered that the wires simply WILL NOT come off the spark plugs. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks much......again.

Did you try pulling? If you have I would suggest asking the wife to do it for you. ;-)

did you try unbolting them and then pulling? After you've unbolted them (one bolt per coilpack) just give it a good tug/wiggle

Oh, and hello from Corral de Tierra

Post Wires.......

Hi Reason, Your answer so impressed me. Pulling? Gee, I never thought of that. On my 5th Subaru and never had a problem with pulling wires. Note I said it was 2005 Subaru. A 97 has entirely different wires and valve covers etc.

VRT, thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I did try removing the wire and pulling like heck from every conceivable angle. These things are a nightmare. I might have to lower myself to taking it to a dealer. Enjoy this spring at Corral.

If it's got coilpacks you need to remove the bolt, like VRT MBasile said. (In your reply you said you removed the "wire" but not anything about removing the bolt from the coilpack)

They should then easily pull off. I've done this on several cars and there's very little force required to remove the coilpack.

If it's actually got plug WIRES then that's a different story...
