They were 2.2l turbo, at least in the US.
Engine type was ej22 and the turbo was a vf10 or vf11. The engine was a closed deck design, and in the US they were not intercooled (though Japan and other markets had a water/air intercooler).

Is it a worthy engine? I have been thinking of trying to find one of those Legacy's and building it into a sleeper but finding info on it is rather difficult. There isnt much out there and what is out there is mostly Japanese(which i dont read or speak).
