I sat in a new Legacy!
Okay, so it was only a 2.5i. They didn't have any GTs on the lot yet. I love the Legacy GT though, and I am seriously considering trading my beloved WRX in for one. The "test sit" only served to convince me that getting the LGT is the right thing to do. I loved the interior, the driving position, it all felt very good. One major complaint I had is that the seats just suck. WRX seats are a lot better, the Legacy seats are sort of undefined and they don't feel that great. I don't know if the GT seats are different than the 2.5i seats, but I haven't seen anything that says they are.
A minor complaint is the color choices for the car. I love WR Blue, I love the new Crystal Gray on the STi, I like bright red... none of these are available for the Legacy. The one I saw was the very dark blue and I didn't think it looked very good. I don't like white or silver very much, and the red is apparently more of a darker red than a bright red, although I haven't seen it in person. I like black though, so at least there's that.
But the center console, the gauges, the driving position, all the good stuff just worked for me, I like it a lot. I'm on their "call for test drive" list when they get some GTs on the lot.

its not the impreza group they are aiming for- when i went to the training sessions they made one thing clear- BMW, Audi, Volvo are in subarus sights.
that might explain the colors- if you think the legacy colors are "blah" it is because the people who are targeted to buy these cars generally do not like to be associated with the "race" (or colors that scream) culture.

No i think they do. I remember something on www.need-desire.com that implied/said that they did. I could be wrong though.
There is only Leather and Tweed, there is no separate seat for the 2.5i.

So, except for the added equipment and the higher power output, there is not such a big difference in overall feel between the 2.5i and the 2.5 GT. Three other things I noticed: The cloth seats in the GT appear to be identical to those in the 2.5i and the salesman confirmed that they are. The electroluminescent gauges seem dim in daylight, even at their brightest setting. And ( STI guys are gonna love this... ) the hood scoop on the GT is somewhat distracting from the driver's position. It intrudes a bit on the field of vision, as it is not entirely recessed.
Well yes its confusing. Every review I've read from my members says the seats are the same. The site gives the impression otherwise (the US site).
A look at the list of official features notes both the 2.5i and 2.5 GT have performance front seats:
