Big brake kit for 94 Legacy GT

Morning all

Any recommendations on BBK for 94 GT? thinking around 4 pot, 330mm front, 300 rear.
currently looking at Stoptech or Hi-Spec but they don't give much info on the Legacy range, all WRX/STi

will kits cross over Subaru models without too much mods? any one out there with conversions already or recommend anything.

braking style is not aggressive, just a bit of narrow lanes driving!! so something that would work a bit better on the colder side.

cheers

WRX/STI stuff fits on the Legacy, provided you have the proper sized wheels to fit over them.

Thanks all

I currently have 18” wheels fitted but would be looking at changing down to 17” probably OEM wheels, maybe even 16" for winter. Not sure on the offset though.

Would it be safe to assume I could, maybe with a little help from Subaru, find these parts in the EPC with no worries about fitting? My main worry obviously is buying a whole bunch of bits and having to wait days/weeks for the correct parts to be found.

I also don’t want to give the dealer the impression that they will be fitting the brakes but want to bleed as much info out of them as possible. I want to avoid paying their prices where I can get the same genuine parts and quality fitting cheaper elsewhere.
Were your conversions done using all stock Subaru parts?

With my limited knowledge of these systems, I know that extending the caliper outwards will enable the fitting of a larger diameter rotor, where I fall down would be the fixing of the caliper to the hub. Are the calipers a universal fit across the range, say from model to model and are newer systems backward compatible to a ‘94 model or would I need a parts from around this era?

Does any one have or know of technical spec sheets for specific parts, the EPC doesn’t give much info other than general part numbers.

Any pics would helpful too

Many thanks
Andy

Most people, myself included, just keep an eye out on the numerous forums for people selling their used, stock brakes after they've upgraded. A full set of rotors, calipers, brackets and pads can be had as low as $100 at times, but usually closer to $200.

The caliper attachment has been the same in all Legacy and Impreza models since their inception; i've heard of no exceptions to this yet.

The caliper bracket is what actually facilitates the use of the larger rotor, as the 2000 Legacy GT and WRX have the exact same caliper, but with a larger rotor. In your case, with a 94, you'd need the updated caliper as well. It really is straightforward to replace with hand tools and a breaker bar. A can of wd40 or PB Blaster would be a good idea for a car of your vintage, though my 00 fought just as hard as the 93.

I put up this guide a few years ago, with pics: http://legacycentral.org/library/brakes.htm It should give you a better idea of what's involved.
