99 EJ25 Head Gasket

So i have a 99 2.5GT. I have also read the forum dealing with the head gasket problems. So i have come to find out my car has a 4-layer head gasket. I know that it is possible, but do those blow easy? My car has a new water pump, radiator cap, and on various occasions (3 in the past 4 months) it has started to get hot, not completely over heating. I watch the guage, but the temp will all of sudden go above normal, then start to climb. That happened usually when hot outside. The other day i was getting off the highway @70mph slowed down to 25 on the exit ramp, and it started to get warm, then went back down, nowhere near the H. It didnt happen today, exact same circumstances. Can't get it to do it if i tried. Might this be a head gasket? Anyway for sure? To me it seems the radiator dosent keep up. Any way to find out?

It could be the head Gaskets. Do you need some one to do the job? Or are you going to do it your self?

Update on the situation, I replaced the headgaskets. While driving on some twisty roads yesterday, not even hard, just plain cruising, it started to get hot? Any ideas?

T-stat, radiator cap have been replaced. The coolant has been changed 3 times in the past couple of months, once for the water pump, once for the headgasket, and just recently when my mechanic looked at it again. I dont want to start throwing parts at this thing. Even on cold days down in the 20's, on a steep grade it will start to get hotter than normal. Maybe i'm just paranoid, but normally the car will sit a little below half, and on those steep grades it will go past half and start to climb. I am just worried what will happen in the summer time since my wife primarily drive the car.

From the looks of it, I don't see that you replaced the radiator, if not then do so. It seems like it's heating up whenever you put a load on it, that is typical of a radiator not adequately cooling. Hopefully and most likely the headgaskets were replaced with the updated version, multi-layer stainless ones. Also the heads should have been checked out for warpness. But I doubt this is your problem, when there is a head gasket problem, the combustion pushes the coolant out of the system and won't recover with easier driving as you describe. It really sounds like a radiator problem to me, especially since you've replace everything else but it. Good luck
