JGTC in USA!
In 2004 JGTC official promotional movie, the plan to bring JGTC race to USA is revelaed.
The track is going to be Calfornia Speedway in Fontana, CA, which is only about 20-30 minuites away from LA.
here is the link to the movie

The date has not been released yet.

that would be pretty freakin' cool. its too bad that they decided to run at Irwindale, there are a lot of tracks here better suited for touring cars, espescially the Skylines and Supras that run in the JGTC. they must have thought that SoCal was going to have the largest number of people interested in seeing the JGTC, otherwise i'd have thought that they'd run someplace like Laguna Seca.

Yeah. It would have been much much better to run at Laguna Seca. Either way, I hope it's a hit.

it just seems to me that Irwindale is a second rate venue, and that a series with he prestige of JGTC would necessitate the use of a higher class venue. i dunno, i could also see them running at places like Road America, Road Atlanta, or the new Barber Motorsports park.

It's California Speedway, not Irwindale.
California speedway is a full scale 2mile D shape oval with infield section and they host INDYcar series, NASCAR, and AMA superbikes as well.
Roger Penske is the owner I think.
Ive driven the infield track before and the facility is just awesome.
Laguna Seca cant host as much people. California speedway hosts upto 90.000 people in grandstand.
I think California speedway is even better than Infineon, in terms of the facility although the track is oval and not quite as interesting track for roadracing.

oops, i meant California Speedway -- i have Irwindale on the brain due to D1.
California Speedway has hosted AMA Superbikes, and will do so again. i don't know about Indy cars. i haven't ridden or driven the track there, but i don't have a terribly high opinion of it. i have a real thing against tracks that incorporate the D/tri/oval banking into the road course. i have the same issue with places like Sears (i refuse to call it infineon) that use the drag strip as part of the front straight. JGTC is a roadracing event, and should be held on a dedicated road course, not something utilizing circle track banking.

i know what you mean..
Im not a fan of half oval half infield like F1 in Indianapolis or Daytona 24 hrs, either.
I like Laguna and Infineon better in terms of track arrangement because it has varaiety of turns and uphill downhill combinations.
But, when it comes to anything Japanese, LA might be a better place to test the water.

Wow this would be great to go watch, but unfortunetly just like the D1 championship series it's in Cali far away from me, (Texas) I wish I had some extra cash to fly out there and watch but I don't, they really need to get some off these highclass events in Texas also.
