Will '98 headlights fit on my '96?

Title says it all.
With the exception of the wiring, are the '98 units plug n play?
Why do I think that it can't be that simple?

Paul, everything I've heard points to that they drop in. Let me do some checking at the yard today and see if I can get you a solid answer

FWIW, the optics on our lights are supposed to be better than the newer cars......
but mine are sandblasted anyways

Alright, got confirmation (and a picture I'll upload later).

98/99 lights drop right into a 95-97. I bolted up a 99 headlight and corner marker to my 97.

Hope that helps

You find those other tails?

Thanks for the info.
I did the same thing tonight at a co-worker's house.
Cruised over with a few beers & asked her if we could swap front ends..
All I gotta do is get the wiring "pigtails" from a wreck....

Paul

BTW No, I haven't found the JDM tail lights, but I know they're in the barn somewhere. Maybe this weekend I'll get some time to hunt for them.

you rock!

I'll see if the yard has a few harnesses to plunder for plugs
They've got a bunch of headlights, so there's a pretty good chance. Pepboys actually sells some nice plugs (from APC, no less) and adapters that can make it happen, too....

I know what you're thinking, but the plugs are pretty high quality

Trying not to be dumb here but what is the diff between the 96-97 and the 98-99 head lights. I have a 97, would the 98-99 be better for any reason?

rexhigh96:

95-97 headlights & front turn indicator are one piece & use H4 bulbs.
98-99 headlights & front turn indicator are two seperate pieces & use 900X bulbs.

I don't know if there is a "performance" difference between the two styles, it's just that a fellow member here was selling the 98-99 lights and the lights on my 96 OB are geschiessed.
