whindshield cracked!!!question

It happens to everyone I think.
But doesn't suby have special windshield? when I asked dealer, they asked me $800 for replacing windshield but glass shop, they say $195. dealer says it's expensive because it has heating system on the windshield or somethin? i don't know exactly.
So,, the question is, can I just put on the windshield from glass shop? I don't wanna spend freakin $800 on the windshield

What car do you have? Certain models do have heating elements in the glass for the windshield wipers. If they're there you can see them, they look like the defroster grid in the rear window.

The heated section at the bottom (de-ices your wipers) is a factory option. If you want it with your new windshield you're going to have to pay the big bucks. For $200 you'll just get glass, nothing more.

be careful when buying a replacement windshield from one of those glass shops. I've seen a side by side comparison between a factory wind shield and one of those cheaper glass shops wind shields, and the 3rd party ones are really flimsy due to the fact that the glass itself is not the same thickness. i'm not saying pay the $800 for the factory one, just be cautious...

It does suck man, A truck threw a rock at me and cracked mine, I have glass insurance and the deductable was only 250.00 but still. . .

Subaruparts.com carries factory glass and I believe it is somewhere in the relm of 450.00 and then just have a very acclaimed glass man do the install. Good Luck.
