Version 8 Wing Install Question....

Wassup everyone. This is my first thread here so I hope someone can help me out without me being flamed too bad for the stupid question. Anyway, I searched this site as well as clubWRX.com and I found no one in the same situation as me.
Anyways, I have a 2003 WRX with the factory spoiler (it uses only 4 holes), and I got a really good deal on a 2004 Sti spoiler. The bottom of the Sti spoiler has a lot more screws than the bumper will allow. So I took off all the mounting screws except for the 4 corners, and it mounted perfectly on my trunk using the stock holes.
My question is that will it be OK to just utilize the 4 stock holes? I mean the Sti spoiler is a bit heavier than the standard WRX spoiler, but it felt stable enough to drive around in. I just don't want it to fly off while I'm on the freeway or something and risk injuring others. Any suggestions or alternatives anyone has tried? I was thinking using really strong double stick tape around the edges. Thanks in advance for all the help. ------Mark

I'd suggest taking it to a pro body shop and have at least a few more holes drilled to secure the wing. You figure that the idea of a wing is to produce downforce, and to produce downforce wind resistance is created. So there is indeed stress on the wing. But is there enough stress to overcome four bolts? 6? More? That I can't say. But to be safe, I'd think that maybe a few more bolts might be a good idea... it's what I'd do.

Thanks a lot. My computer was down all weekend at home so I couldn't get online. Thanks for the reply. I will try to see if my local body shop could drill a few more holes so at least there will be 2 on each side, and 2 in the middle.
