STI / WRX Trunk Swap for smaller wing?
I've heard of STI owners swapping trunks with WRX's to get the smaller WRX wing. Of course if you find someone with the same color. My question is.....if you do this, what do you do about the trunk lock ? It wouldn't work with your car key . Is it easy to take the locks out and swap them ?
Thanks,

there is a way to take the locks out and switch them. its a PITA from what i have heard and what i have seen when i looked at the lock too. i'd say go for the dealership and see how much it is to get a new trunk lock. i want to swap for an sti wing, but finding one is a hassel too.

I swapped my '02 trunk with an STi trunk. Doing the locks wasn't that hard, actually. If you remove the inside release handle, you can get your hands to the lock a little easier. Remove the pin with some needle nose pliers or a flat head screw driver, being careful to not pop it off and allow it to rattle down into the trunk. That's not unrecoverable, but a PITA nonetheless!! After you take the pin out, the lock will just pop out. Reverse the procedure, and enjoy your new trunk!

So I swapped the locks.......it was super easy.
Just a little hard pulling the clip off the inside of the trunk.......does't like to come off too easy.....but it's easy to get to.
I think the clip is only meant to put on once and keep on... because there is these real small delicate tabs on the ends of the clip........and when you pull off the clip they pretty much break off. But you can just order a new clip from subaru for like $2, not a big deal. Thanks again for the help Funkdrmr.
