STI Auto HVAC into 02/03 WRX

Will the 04 ST HVAC system connect into a 02/03 WRX wire harness?

I'm wondering if I could get this to work in my car.

I will also be doing a STI conversion on my car and will be changing out the wireharness with an STI one I know then it will fit (of course) my question is what equipment will I need to keep and which things can I remove?

It's not as simple as you might think. Your manual HVAC is cable-operated, the 04 STi automatic system is electronically operated with servo motors. The entire HVAC housing would have to be replaced, probably along with the heater core and evaporator (don't know if they're different or not, or compatible with the 02). There are also additional sensors in the STi, one on the top of the dash for sun load measurement and the outside temp sensor which runs through the HVAC as well as the dash display.
Other people have suggested this idea in the past, and I have yet to see anyone post that they actually did it.

wow! just wow!

well I planned on it being an issue. and I will be getting an engine and wireharness (cabin) from a recked STI so I'll ask about those pieces are well.

should it be easy to install if I have everything?

what about the compressor...etc.?

well I spoke to a friend that did the conversion on his wagon and he said that everything is electronically controled as you stated. he said that if possible try to get everything since almost nothing is compatible

If your friend actually did this successfully, that would be the first instance that I have heard of. I suggest you pick his brain as thoroughly as possible before you proceed.
I don't know if the compressor is different, but if you can get it do so by all means.
You'll need that sensor on top of the dash, it's wired into the controller someplace. Also the outside temp sensor which is located up front by the radiator. I can't tell you where either of them connect, just that you need them.
Ease of installation? I have no idea. You may have fitment issues with the HVAC box, heater/AC lines and so on. You won't know until it's all apart.
I hope you enjoy science projects, and I also hope you have another car to drive while this one is all apart.
If you do actually go ahead with this, get the wiring diagrams for both your car and the STi first. In fact get the whole manual, you may need it. Have your AC properly discharged by a shop before you begin.

well with the entire cabin wireharness and engine harness and entire AC system I think I won't need wiring diagram at least I hope not

yes my friend stan did a complete swap with a recked US STI into his WHITE WRX wagon. everything that is found on and STi is in his car and is working 100%. he'll be helping me

he did the whole swap within about 1~2 weeks time.

here is my friends car: https://www.i-club.com/forums/hawaii-classifieds-97/sale-2004-sti-wagon-83699/
