Scoop

Alright, I've decided that I'm going to buy an sti style hood scoop for my 03. I did an ebay search and found that someone is selling a scoop for the 02-03 model hood, but in the 04-05 scoop style. Does anyone know if the sti style 04-05 scoop pulls in that much more air compared to the older style?

I dont think it would pull in any more air to make a huge difference.

I'd stay away from Ebay on buying parts, but thats just me. Maybe its a good deal, but there are lots of good vendors that sell genuine sti scoops. Oh wait, you said you want sti-style, not the real thing. Go Ebay then, and dont complain about the fitment .

If I were you, I'd get my STi scoop from www.gruppe-s.com or another vendor that sells the proper style scoop for the '02/'03. IMO, the 04+ STi scoop is just too damn big and it looks goofy, especially on the bugeye. The '02/'03 scoop looks perfect on the bugeye.

edit: and don't forget to buy the splitter made for the STi scoop. Without the splitter the bigger scoop serves little to no purpose other than aesthetics and based on your first post you seem to be interested in generating more airflow to the I/C.

And I would stay away from ebay. I'm skeptical of the quality of a lot of the stuff you'll find for sale there. And if you really want the '04+ style scoop, gruppe-s sells those too.

I'll let ya know and I'll take some pics. I wonder how it'll look on a midnight black sedan. I don't think it'd look too bad...

It's not bad, I mean, there is a bit of a visibility loss, but it's not much. You just have to re-orient yourself with parking, etc. but you can still see the lights, so it's not bad.
