Replacement side view mirror cover?

It appears as if someone vandalized my subuaru and shattered the drivers side view mirror cover.

The mirror itself is intact and working fine.
The cover around the entire mirror and motor itself is destroyed.

So, can I buy a replacement for this part?
I have an 04 Impreza TS.
Will the 03 part fit?

I would like to do this by myself, and save the insurance or dealership hassles.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

SubaruParts.com has worked for me in the past finding stuff like that. Good luck in your quest for a new side view mirror housing.

I had a mirror broken off my truck recently like you did...
What were the circumstances of the accident, such as where was the car parked? The truck was at the end of a street where Muni buses constantly drive by very fast.

The 04 mirrors are different from the earlier ones. A junkyard may be your best bet for finding a cheap replacement, or there may be someone on the boards parting out a wreck. Look at the yards in your area, and post in the Wanted forum here and on NASIOC.

The Morette covers don't fit the 04s, at least not yet. They are also meant to fit over the existing mirror housing, not replace it. They are very thin.

Sorry it took so long to respond, them damned holidays.

It was parked on side of a suburban street. It is a cut-through for two major streets, so it sees enough traffic.

When I went outside to my car, the mirror wasnt pushed against the car. Nor was the mirror that far out of alignment. Nor where there any other marks.
So if it a car DID hit it, then that was quite the close call and I'm glad its only the mirror cover.

So the basic consensus is that I should set my sights on an OEM '04 part for it? I can deal with that.
I'm going to hit up NASIOC as well.

Thanks dooders.
Cheers
