Problems with Thule roof box on WRX wagon

Problems with roof box on WRX wagon

I just got a new WRX wagon and was excited to use my Thule roof box again, which had be sitting in my garage for 4 years. Well I did the measurements and there is no way I can mount that thing without hitting the rear spoiler. Has anyone had success with mounting a roof box on their wagon? I'm referring to the long boxes, mine is 90", not the short ones.

Can you get a different cross bar kit that will boost it up a few inches for clearance?

I have a cheap Sears. I have to move the roof bars as far forward as possible, and then it is a very close fit. Would it be possible to mount the box's legs further forward? Good luck!

I use a Thule Evolution box for snowboarding. I'm not sure of the length, but with the cross bars as far forward as possible, the rear hatch will only open ~15%. My solution is to remove the rear wing for the winter. Doing this allows me to open the hatch ~95%. I use touch up paint on hardware store bolts along with some nylon washers to keep the moisture out.

Thanks for the replies, I thought about removing the wing as well, but I'm pretty sure the evolution is shorter than my box so I probably couldn't make it work.
