Isn't the aluminum hood just as light as the CF hood?

Since you don't really need a CF hood on a WRX (if that's what you have) to save any substantial weight, then its all for looks. So then, painting it would make it a doubly bad waste of $. Dont paint it

interesting.
What color green is it? I've seen CF hoods are darker green cars and I love the way it looks. Specially with tinted windows.
Plus if you car is that old and it's the original paint it will look weird to just paint the hood. Be all shiny and what not.
Besides that it's not cheap to paint a cf hood because they'll have to prep it. Sand off the clear/gel coats. Prime, paint, clear coat again. And then your CF hood will way about as much as your current hood.
If you do go CF i'd say leave it.
I myself won't go CF on my car unless of course some commie bastard dents it to hell. My car's white and a wagon. Just not fixed up enough for CF. But I am looking into having a white kevlar hood molded for me. We'll see how that goes.

if you already have a light weight hood buying CF is for looks but if you have a heavy steel hood like me i am doing it for the weight and painting it will not make it as heavy as my steel one

I voted paint it but i changed my mind.
With the CF hood on it would look twice as good with a full CF interior..you might as well go with the entire theme. I don't think CF is rice if done properly and with good components.

for $500 i can get a aluminum hood
but i would expect a fiberglass hood to be cheaper
plus i dont think cusco makes a hood for first gen imprezas but if someone finds one it willl most likely be more than $500
but i'm going to see if i cant get a CF hood that is preped to be painted and it might be cheaper too but like i said i have a 95 that needs a hood so i'm doing it for the weight not the bling if i had a light weight hood spending $300 or more for CF would be a waste to me instead i think i would just buy tape that looks like CF if that is all you want
