Out with the stock seats means.....
Time to buy a racing seat. Sparcos seem to be the industry standard, Momo has some nice models too which are more in the price range I'm looking for ($500 to $600 w/o rails per seat). I've done some searching for Recaros and didn't find anything of interest. Bride I'd love to own, but don't know where I can get them and from what I hear they're expensive as hell.
I'm gonna start bugging people at local meets and events to let me sit in their car for a few minutes but I wanna also see what you all say.
I'm about 6'0, 165lbs. I'm thin, but I sit with the stock seatback STRAIGHT up, declined as high as it will go. My headroom is fine until i put a helmet on and then i can rub the headliner if I want to, so something that sits a little lower than stock would be preferable.
I'm specifically looking at the Momo Montecarlo, Cup GT; and the Sparco Evo and Corsa. Momo tells you almost nothing about the seats on their website while Sparco has the dimensions, which still didn't clear much up for me.
So to those of you who own any of these seats, or are my general build, are you happy with what you purchased?
I'm definitely open to other brands. Bride is, well..Bride; seemingly an expensive and glamorous name. How different it is from the others I don't know. I've heard Brides run on the smaller side because they're made for the Asian market whose bodies are generally smaller. I go to track events and autocrosses often and plan to do so even more often in the future. Also, being on the skinny side, I could definitely comfort a tight fit on and off the track.
Also, from the reading around I've done, people mention the Momo name a lot and it's supposed higher price tags and racing history, while still being a good product. I'm actually more interested in the Momos right now because they're cheaper than the Sparcos. I'm also looking at their fireproof racing gloves in comparison to a pair from Sparco as well.
Any input would be great.
Thanks a lot.

im 6*2 and you can see how wide i am in the japan thread i ahve in random thoughts
i have a recaro speed. i had to buy it because i hit my head on the liner when i had a helmet on. the sliders are what bring you down. i went to wedge down the street from me and had them install it super low
i have the nomex glvoes from sparco they ahd a garage sale here in socal. they are nice
brides are too short for you the head rest will be at the base of your neck if you have a long torso

Brides are a no go for us tall and/or big folks
Just a random tidbit of information, but a friend mentioned that some Sparco models have visibility issues when you shoulder check to cut lanes. I dunno if it was just him or if it's a common issue, but I thought that it might be something handy to know
Probably the best idea is to go to meets and sit in people's racing seats

i like my sparcos
i am 6" tall, 150 lbs with a long torso. i got sparco milanos for my STi. for me the stock seats were like sitting in a lazyboy. plus i needed something with lumbar support. i decided on these seats after sitting in some torinos.
my setup has height and and slider (back and forth) adjustments. on the lowest height settings, the sparcos sit noticably lower than stock. the only problem is, adjusting the seats back and forth require 2 people. its cuz the way i installed the seats makes the slider grab bar too narrow.
otherwise, i love the seats, very supportive.

yeah guys you're probably right. brides aren't gonna fit us very well and besides, the taller version of the Zeta costs about $800 just for the seat. no thanks. people need to show up at meets and events so i can sit in their cars. i'll try the bmw driving school coming up, there should be some nice stuff there to test sit.
i've never heard of the sparcos having lane-check vision problems except for the full wrap around headrests.
does anyone at all know anything about momo seats?? i can't find anything at all. nissan guys worship brides, the subaru drivers love their sparcos and recaros. who's got some momo's? are these "race" worthy seats, as in are they safe for competition? or are they just show seats?
i dunno.
