Metal supports in seat.. anyone fixed them?

On either side of my seat are roughly U shaped metal pieces. (about 2" tall and 4" long) These provide support/shape to the bolster in the seat.

Unfortunately, they dig into my thighs bad and make driving suck.

I tried adding foam, but that just made it worse.

I think the only solution is to bend them down a little, or remove them entirely.

Problem is, they are about 3/8" thick, and I can't budge them. They are welded to the seat frame.

Any ideas on bending these *****?
