im with HELLA if you can afford the hid kit, i would get one of those instead of blowing money on replacement bulbs.
Just an idea, but if you disable the daytime running lights, the bulbs would last longer. Not saying to do this nor do i know if this is even legal, im only suggesting it because i have read some threads on here talking about how to do it and the reasons for doing it (one of which is bulbs blowing out too quick).
Hope this helps.

No it's not you, they do suck.
Better alternatives are any of the high-efficacy +50 bulbs such as Osram Silverstars (not the same as Sylvania and not available in stores), Narva Rangepower, Phillips Hi-visibility, maybe some others.

I had no trouble with silverstars, but then again that was on an old van that didn't have daytime runners. I got 'em at walmart for next to nothing, they were brighter than stock, and I could actually see where I was going for once. That being said, the stock lights on my 2.5i are way better for visibility than those silverstars were, so it really is all relative.
My conclusion:
If you have an old sh1tty car, they're alright to great.
If you have new sexy hotness, go get some HIDs.

I don't think it's illegal to disable daylight running lights. It's not a mandatory safety feature, just the manufacturers option. But ya just get HID and you will never go back

Get the Osram Silverstars. The sylvania are the suck
I used Hella lights and they lasted about 9 months before one went out. now using PIAA because I got a good deal on them. really good and bright, but expensive

Yes, they suck. I have since (the last two years) bought all my bulbs from:

Without a single issue ~ the yellow for the GD fogs rock!

I have had Silverstars in my WRX for a year and never had an issue at all. Got them $30 at Target.
They arent anything special at all but now im wondering if I should still buy PIAA's.
