Making 98 rs hood scoop functional

It is embarassing to have a scoop that does nothing but look, so i am prolly going to "open it up". Obviously it is and easy project, I was just wondering if anyone had tryed this and if there is anything that i should be aware of (water leaks, etc.).

I had the same problem,
"Is that hood scoop functional?"
grrrr
yeah I just took the plastic cover off of it, and opened it up. I haven't had any problems, and it's been open for a year.
An added bonus, you can see my Cobb intake through the scoop
