98 2.5 RS hood scoop & vent functional?

1st thing Hi! I'm new to this forum just got my used 1998 2.5RS today.

The question is are those vents and hood scoop funtional at all?

I know this is not a turbo without the intercooler. I can see the two small vents are shut and so is the hood scoop. From the look for it the hood scoop seems to be functional.

I know I can remove all the inner covers to make them all functional and better cool the engine. But if it rains it could be a problem.

Are there any both ons that opens up the vents and the scoop but can redirect water?

Thanks

They are not functional...until you take the plates off. I took mine off about a year ago. The only thing that could possibly cause problems with the rain is your plug wires. Anyways, you won't have any problems. It seems a little embarassing to have non-functional scoop/vents. Just my opinion.

This is a site you might want to check out... http://www.scoobymods.com . There's a section where it talks about using some type of spacer to get some use out of the vents w/o completely removing the plates.

Just leave the scoop plate on and take the vent covers off. It won't hurt your engine, just make it dirtier.
