Question JDM headlight question!!

whats up fellow enthusiasts, i was thinking about installing JDM non-HID head lights into the baby and then follow up with a HID kit later. Do you think this is a bad idea? Will the HID kit melt the plastic covering? if anyone could help that would be great.

a lotta ppl do that. the only downside is that the lenses in the non hid projectors (assuming your talking about an 02/03 wrx) are a bit different than the actual hid ones. I'm not sure how it affects the lighting though.. you don't have to worry about melting anything

you'll blind oncoming traffic if u do that. just get EDMs instead of jdms. in regards to the hids melting anything. they wont. i have hids in edms and everything is fine. you will most likely be drawing the power from the battery via relay so its all good. you will have to drill/dremel a hole in the back of the plastic cover to put the hid bulb in.

I agree with Beef, you need to realize that the beam pattern on the JDMs is RHD and not correct for driving in the US (or any LHD country). If you decide to get a set of these you should open them up and modify the internal plate to flatten the beam pattern out, before putting them on your car. HIDs will make the blinding problem even worse if the lights are unmodified.
A set of EDM lights are a much better option if you can find them, they are essentially the same as the JDMs but have the correct beam pattern, and they also have the leveling motors (which you don't have to hook up).

CC-B and Subydude used to carry the EDM lights, don't know if they have any currently. Check the private classifieds here and at NASIOC, used ones turn up sometimes.
