Illuminator light fuse keeps on blowing.

After installing a cobra radar to my car, the illumination fuse (in car) keeps blowing on me. Its a 10 fuse, i then put 15 and 20, but it keeps blowing up. I unplugged the radar and it still blows. Any thoughts? I realllllly would like my car to work again. thank you

Using a larger fuse on a circuit designed for a smaller fuse will not end well.
If the circuit is blowing fuses without the RADAR detector then it is currently not the RADAR detector blowing the fuses. It may, however, have been the original cause before you started asking for trouble. A circuit designed for 10 amps that is allowed to pull 20 amps may have overheated the insulation on the tiny wires and now there may be a short.

no, the fuse blows for a specific reason, too much amperage is being pulled through it, and it is limited because thats all the amps that the wiring can handle. If you let 30 amps through for a wiring system only made to support 10 amps, you'll burn the wiring

So i was curious and replaced the 30 with a 15.. it works! then a 10 (stock red one) and it works! wow... maybe the car needed a little cool down time instead of me pushing in fuses...

And yes, i did unplug the battery everytime i switch.. except the last 15 and 10 fuses.. wierd? But yeah thanks for all your help VRT and Double!!!

I'm having the same problem right now. My illuminator 10A fuse keeps blowing. I tried installing it with the battery disconnected but still doesn't work.

If the 10A circuit is overloaded (if you added a component to it) then it will probably trip the 10A fuse. For instance, if the demand load was 10A before you added something and when you added something the demand load is now 15A, you're 10A fuse will trip. If you put a bigger fuse on wiring rated for 10A, the resistance will heat the insulation on the wires as aforementioned.

...and hillarity will ensue.

Do not install a higher amp fuse into any circuit.

Anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram for an 03 WRX? Do they even have one per say?
