Question How to wire gauges?

I just got Autometer boost and egt gauges and i need some help on the wiring. I need to know where the white wire goes. Should the red and black wires just go to the battery?

THX

Question ?

I have an aftermarket radio. Should that make a difference? If not all i need to do is take the black wire and run it to either of the two wires on the back of the stereo, and do the same for the white one? Then just run the red to the battery. Im not really good with all this wiring stuff. Thanks for the help.

Cobalt

I have the Cobalt series gauges. It says to connect the red wire to a switched power source that maintains power during engine starting. For the white it says to connect it to dash lighting or switchable 12v light source. Black just goes to a ground.

where are the gauges going....pillar or stock dash pod?

if they are going in the stock pod above the radio, you can tap a constant hot from the head unit....got a test light? if not, borrow one. actually you can tap your 12 volt switched from the head unit as well.

pillar

My gauges are mounted in the A pillar. I have an aftermarket radio too if that makes a difference.

aftermarket radio doesn't really make a difference. tapping the wires at the fuse box will probably be the best place, unfortunately i have no pics or don't know the color of the wires (why a test light is handy now) or you could tap the wires off the clock (also a popular place).

as the clock is further from the pillar than the fuse box, the actually tapping of the wires is more straight forward....i think the wires may even be marked.

clock

I got an up pipe put on a couple of weeks ago and went to get some gauges installed at the same time. They used the clock for the power source, but unfortunately the gauges were damaged. I sent them back and got the Autometer gauges and it says the power source can't go off when starting the car, but the clock goes off when starting. It said that this will cause the gauges to not be accurate. My boost gauge was showing 21 lbs of boost and my pyro was going all the way to 1600 when wired in through the clock.

?

I tryed rewiring these things another way, and now the EGT gauge seems to be working fine. (about 800 at idle) The boost gauge is showing about 25 lbs of boost at full boost and i know this isn't right. Anyone know what it could be?
