How to remove inside door panel?

Okay, I think my outside driver side door handle latch came off. I can't open the damn door from outside. Inside is good. When I drive, I could hear this metalic sound from inside the door. Sounds like some kind of metalic wire or some kind is just loose and hanging around. I need to know how to pop the damn panel off and connect the damn thing back up. It's being a pain right now. Thanks!

Leo

lol-did 2 last week from same neighborhood wear someone was trying to break into them.carefully use a pocket srew driver to pry up the front of the window switch.remove switch and screw to door panel.pry away the cover at mirror.tweeter cover has a notch to pry off.then remove screw.door handle has a screw to be removed.now the tricky part.you need a curved pick to get under the door handle bezel to unsnap the top and bottom.if you dont and just pull the door panel it will snap.start at the bottom and pull door panel away from door skin.loud snaps will be heard.best is to use a door panel tool.but just pulling out will be fine.roll the window up all the way,and you will see the linkage hanging there.push it back into the plastic retainer in the door latch ,and swivel the retainer onto the linkage.

Thanks SUBARU_TECH! I hope no one was trying to break into my car. Boy, it's hard to visualize what you are talking about with text. Let me poke around and see if I could get it right. Thanks!

Okay, I made it into a list for my slow brain to follow. Now I have a question. What you do you mean by cover at mirror? (step 03)

01. pry up the front of the window switch
02. remove switch and screw to door panel.
03. pry away the cover at mirror.
04. tweeter cover has a notch to pry off.
05. remove screw under tweeter cover.
06. remove screw at inside door handle
07. need a curved pick to get under the door handle bezel to unsnap the top and bottom.
08. or just pull the door panel start at the bottom and pull door panel away from door skin.
09. roll the window up all the way, and you will see the linkage hanging there.
10. push it back into the plastic retainer in the door latch
11. swivel the retainer onto the linkage.

also, during the process of removing the door panel, do I need to keep the window up or down or doesn't matter? Thanks!

alright, I got the damn things fixed! Yes, I couldn't wait. Taking the door panel off was the easy part. Took me about 3 minutes to take it off. But hooking the latch back was a pain. The plast retainer was still on the outter door handle, which was hard to get to. And I was not able to remove the plastic retainer due to the glass. I could easily hook the latch back put there. but there was a snap on part, which holds the latch in place was so damn hard to get to.

long story short, I twisted my hand 2000000° and snap the sucker back in place. Now the latch hooks to the outter door handle and the stupid green plastic piece is holding on to the latch nice and tight!

Thanks again SUBARU_TECH for your help!

your welcome-sounds like the linkage came of at the handle and not the latch.window down is easier to put top of door panel back on.the mirro cover is a triangle shapped behind mirror.easier to take that of since door panel slides under it.yes it is hard with the glass in the way to get linkage back on handle.nice work thou.

Mr Subaru Tech or IBLUEVIRUS

Do you mind if I Can I also have the PDF file on how to take the door panel out (if possible a direction on how to diassemble the whole door). I damage my door and I need to replace the frame itself. How hard is it to take the the window, motor, lock, and all the stuff that's inside the door? Can I easily take the door lock cuz? I just don't want to have another set of keys to open my car and to start the car.

Thanks

LEO (oh yeah, my name is Leo too. hahaha)
