9 months, 26K miles, stock 04 WRX, lights are working fine but now I want something brighter.

In my girlfriends old 93 Nissan sentra I had 2 sets get burnt out after just over a year.
The cheapo ones I got on ebay have been in my old civic that I gave to my brother for over 2 years now? ;x

 

I did the same and installed with latex gloves. I think the Silverstars are more susceptible to inrush current failure and the putting them in the WRX headlights was a bad match, they worked for awhile and then died mysteriously. I already wrote about this before....

If you want the "good" Silverstars, seek out the Osram Silverstars that are sold in Europe. You can get them thru importers in the US.

Despite the "same" name, they are NOT the same bulbs as the US-spec Sylvania Silverstars (Sylvania and Osram are the same company). The US Spec ones get the light color from putting blue dye in the bulb glass. The Euro ones use clear glass, and get the color from using different gas in the bulb.

Invest in PIAA. Best lights.

 

Beware of blanket statements. My set of Silverstars is as bright as ever, almost 2 years now -- and I have my DRLs turned on.

are they them?? 16$ each isnt too bad, but my question is are they legal?
