How long do Silverstar bulbs last?

In cold weather plus snow I had a Silverstar headlamp bulb burn out. Only the low-beam filament busted, the high-beam was still working. This bulb lasted a little over 22000 miles. Is this normal for these light bulbs or should it have lasted longer? Would water/snow/cold kill the bulb?

I just burnt out a headlight bulb on my other car after ~ 28K miles...sounds about right, guess it depends on night usage..I dont have day time running lights on the other car, but the subaru does so that might effect the life of them as well.

I'd also recommend the Xtravision bulbs over the Silverstars. The silverstars have a blue tint which impedes their performance. They may look "nicer", but the performance isn't as good as the Xtravisions FWIW.

I put in the stock bulb when the Silverstar burned out, will look into Xtravision when I've got time. Do they sell em at Kragen type stores? ANd yes the Silverstars don't make it any easier to see over stock bulbs.

Yup, the Xtravision's are usually right next to the Silverstars, and they're also cheaper. I just put a set in on the recommendation of a trusted, extremely knowledgable source on the LegacyCentral.org bbs and it's an amazing improvement over the super old OEM bulbs in my Legacy.
