Hood Scoops

Anybody know if there is a difference between the STI and the replica hood scoops, if so what might they be. Also if anyone has a pic of the replica installed can you post it as well as the STI one.

if i'm not mistaken, the real sti units have vertical ribs whereas most replicas do not. other than that and materials, they're about the same.

I have heard the replicas are not worth buying. They are usaly low quality.

yeh, get the real ones...mpj performance should have some instock. i got mine from gruppe-s.

I got my real STI pre painted WRB at MPJ GREAT vendor I would highly recommend you check there first!!

THE PAINT WAS PERFECT TOO...

Subydude is also GREAT!

i got my real sti hood scoop from suby_dude. great price and service. paint job is pretty good but not perfect. you can also just look around the forums. lots of folks get fmic and sell their scoops.

The ribbed STi scoop looks better, but is also functional in keeping out low-flying birds.

Has anyone done any studies to see how the airflow is on the USDM WRX scoop and the STi scoop?

I was thinking that some vortex inducers on the sides of the scoop would help cool the intercooler (like the radiator on the V-Rod Harley).

Have you noticed that images of the USDM MY04 STi and WRX show a modified hood scoop? The top edge now protrudes forward instead of being even with the sides of the scoop, as if to funnel more air that might ordinarily go over the top of the scoop at higher speeds. It might be more than just a cosmetic change.
