Question Help! Lights are Burning Out!!!

I didnt really know what forum to put this in, so i just picked general. anyways my problem is that i replaced my fog bulbs and headlight bulbs to the standard type. well what happened is a few weeks later one fog light went out. and then a little while after that one highbeam went out. so i got all new lights fog and headlights. and a month or 2 goes by and a foglight goes out again and then my highbeams went out. and now only my right side foglight and my right side lowbeam not highbeam work. my left side fog and low/high bulb are toast. i believe that there is a short somewhere but i have checked all the fuses and they are all good. i dont know what else to check. i looked at the wires on the headlights and the foglights and they all look good. no sign of cuts in the wires. anyone know what else i could check or what else i could do to maybe get this problem solved? any help would be appreciated.. thanks

Are you using 'xenon type' bulbs from China or South Korea? This is par for the course if you are. They are worthless.

If not, your altenator could be spiking at start up... like when you leave your lights on, but shut down the car. Then restart with your lights still on. The same thing can happen on the lowbeams with the DRL function still working...

i got a few pairs and i think the first pair that i had were xenon form prolly china or korea. so that solves that part of the bulb problem. but i didnt know about the headlights switch if it is still on wheni shut it off and then when i turn it on, i didnt think that would cause a problem but it guess it could be possible, it just wasnt drawing any power when it was off so i thought it would be alright.

You could have pitted the contacts on the relay from excess current draw from cheap bulbs. Try replacing the headlight relay, not sure exactly where it is though. If the contact are pitted you can get the problem of them not wanting to turn off after you turn them on.

The relay I believe is under the dash (pasenger side) just like where you go to defeat the DRL's. When I switch my brights on and off I can hear it clicking down there.

My bet is throw all the Asian junk in the dumpster... disconnect the DRL's... and turn your own headlamps on and off. Buy Euro made bulbs @ www.danielsternlighting.com

Haven't had an issue for 9 months since I did the same. Good luck.
