It feels very unnatural for me to use "heel-toe" shifting. When I'm hitting a turn fast, I will blip the throttle fast and hit the brake. I do it fast enough for what I want to do. I've ridden with people that use both "heel-toe" and just blipping, and yes, the "heel-toe" is faster, but not by much. But I do have to agree that "heel-toe" is a lot better for racing.

I wear 14's and still problems heel toeing, like the right side of my foot will just totally miss the gas sometimes. I didnt originally have that problem but I noticed after a few weeks after I bought the car I was wearing the rug out where my right heel usually sat. To compensate I moved my heel over.

Ever since then Ive been missing the gas on heel toeing. What did I do?

Move your heel a bit more to the right (back to my original position) and you shouldnt have any problems.

Haha. Sorry about that.

I meant to say the solution to my problem of always missing the gas was to move my heel to the right.

Yeah, great suggestion. I picked up a ton from watching video's with footwork. I guess I am just a very visual person, but I didn't really get better until I saw it done the way it should be.

Some of us just can't heel toe due to our body mechanics no matter what pedal set up is , my size 12 eee basicly limits any resemblance of heel toe to a "big toe-side shoe.
Once you have the basic idea of what should happen during a Heel Toe you just find the method which suits you best to achieve that goal.
My son with his 13s does not even try , but he still gets from here to school to work to speeding ticket just as good as any heel toer!

!

i may be wrong but if your shoe size is bigger wouldn't that mean less effort with heel toe tech.? yeah your foot is bigger but that also means that your twisting your leg a lot less than people like me who wear a size 9.5
try this- get shoes that are made specifically for driving. puma, addidas, sparco and piloti are my favs. they are traditionally narrow and very light with ample rubber on the bottom. the reason they are so narrow(soory widefoots!) is because in F1 they don't have all the space in a regular car. . .

You know what they say about guys with big feet right?...Long legs. For me the problem is that my legs are so damn long I can barely lift up my leg enough to twist my foot onto the gas pedal. My knee is always smashing into the steering wheel. Oh well. Dont think I will be racing any F1 cars ever =(

Your on the money , Balanz , the unfortunate side effect of big, wide feet on a heel toe is the occasional redline while braking real hard which is quite embarrasing especialy when the person riding with you gives you that "you're no Schumacher" look!
Oh to have those little size tens or nines (maybe even eights), be a bit smaller and weigh a lot less.Smaller framed people don't just make more anatomicaly correct drivers , they get better clothes , fit into all the after market seats , get better shoes and , damn it , they live longer too.

Heh, all true things. You're from SR? That's cool. I am living in Sebastopol this summer. Do you go to any meets in sonoma county? Just curious what the scene is here for us i-clubbers.

pencil this one in on your calendar for sure!Last years was a blast, this year will surely bring many more good times.
As for other meets , the bay area meeting and donuts section is a good place to look...Bushido , Psoper and many others frequently organize country escapades , I like setting up and or attending meets that end with some form of food being consumed.

i can heel-toe in anything, including my flops (just like whoever posted that above). size 10.5 shoes, btw.

i threw my razos on when i got my wrx, and took them off a week later. I think the problem most people are having is that they are putting too much of their foot on the brake. if you're missing the gas, you need to concentrate more on just getting the front/ball of your foot on the brake, and just the side of your foot on the gas. there isn't any heel in it; that is simply a misnomer.
