few days ago i saw a thing on ebay on how to do it. The seller said he did it to his car and it took him and a couple of friends 3-4 days to do it. Now i dont know about the rest of you but i dont think that i could stand to be without the use of my car for 3 mins let alone 3 days. Unless of course i was doing a performance mod to keep up with that cute chick in the civic si that lives down the street from me.
I know there are like $1k kit out for older modle civics to do that. The kit includes all the hardware you need to do it your self. but the auction on ebay said that to get it profesinal done it would be 6-7k and i dont know about the rest of you but if i had 6-7k just lying around i would be buying a turbo.

STatikPhreeze that was probably with the aid of a kit for that perticular car. I wouldnt do it my self unless I had all the right tools. If you were to have it done professionaly I would imagine less than a grand if you found a good shop.
there r a couple ways i know of about how to do this. there's a kit that uses struts similar to hood struts and as soon as u pull the handle it just goes straight up from its resting position, the problem with this is clearence. because of the very straight rear line of the impreza doors u'd hafta do some serious shell work. the other is one where its a hydro system, and it runs off of actuators. u press yur keyless entry button and the doors r releases and shift out slightly as regualr doors would but then swing up like the first ones i mentioned. my friend is working on a set for his mustang. some ppl don't like it but i think it's gona b sick! goodluck
i'm assuming it would cover new hardware and hinges and wutever is needed to guide the doors along their "path", the strut types may not work because if u think about how the doors would rotate. the rear of the door would be going in an arc/semi-circle on its way up/open. now the outer door panel is basically rectangle more or less. so if u rotate a rectangle its gona move thru a path that makes a circle larger than its original length. so it either wouldn't open at all or would hav some serious clearence and scratching issues where the front and back of the door meets the edges of the front and rear quarter panels.

the door of a wrs will never be able to be "true" scissor doors unless you wanted to spend a **** load of cash on modding the body and doors. The only was this could be done simplely is to have the doors open out slightly and up.

We made complete scissors doors for a crx using linear actuators. They open up with your keychain buttons. They first pop straight out 3-4 inches then rotate up 80 degrees. It takes awhile but we do alot of **** like this. We do alot in carbon fibre from dashes to center consoles. We made carbon fibre door skins to lighten up the doors. the doors have the nsx style scoop in the door.

It's gonna take a lot more than some brackets and hinges to make WRX doors scissor up. There are clearance issues and other things. The easiest way would be to pop out and then go up like everyone else has said. Even then it is gonna be a lot more than just brackets. Especially if your talkin all four doors.

gullwing
scissor doors and gullwing doors are completely different.
Gullwing doors swing up perpendicular to the car like the delorean.
Scissor doors pop out then swing up next to the car.
Either way, the door is a major part of a cars support, so if you did do either style door, you'd have to add a support beam.
Otherwise, the body of the car starts to sag and then the hinges dont line up.
Gullwing and scissor doors alos cause MAJOR body roll.
Just my 2cents
