Those are called "scissor" doors, and they do not cost all that much to have done profesionaly.

STatikPhreeze that was probably with the aid of a kit for that perticular car. I wouldnt do it my self unless I had all the right tools. If you were to have it done professionaly I would imagine less than a grand if you found a good shop.

there r a couple ways i know of about how to do this. there's a kit that uses struts similar to hood struts and as soon as u pull the handle it just goes straight up from its resting position, the problem with this is clearence. because of the very straight rear line of the impreza doors u'd hafta do some serious shell work. the other is one where its a hydro system, and it runs off of actuators. u press yur keyless entry button and the doors r releases and shift out slightly as regualr doors would but then swing up like the first ones i mentioned. my friend is working on a set for his mustang. some ppl don't like it but i think it's gona b sick! goodluck

i'm assuming it would cover new hardware and hinges and wutever is needed to guide the doors along their "path", the strut types may not work because if u think about how the doors would rotate. the rear of the door would be going in an arc/semi-circle on its way up/open. now the outer door panel is basically rectangle more or less. so if u rotate a rectangle its gona move thru a path that makes a circle larger than its original length. so it either wouldn't open at all or would hav some serious clearence and scratching issues where the front and back of the door meets the edges of the front and rear quarter panels.

the door of a wrs will never be able to be "true" scissor doors unless you wanted to spend a **** load of cash on modding the body and doors. The only was this could be done simplely is to have the doors open out slightly and up.
