first attempt at painting.

I finaly got sick and tired of the black side skirts and the sliver airfoil!!

I picked up all the fixins today $128 worth of stuff. I preped all the bits by scuffing with 400 gritt paper then a good washing with soapy water, painted the side skirts with a plastic adheasion inhanser, primmed every thing, layed down coats of color untill I got a nice even covrage, then i went off with the clear coat... I was using an anchent syphon feed gun and i have to say for my first attmept at painting bits this bigg it turned out well.
these pictures were taken 2 hours after i was done spraying.
I will post tomarrow when i get every thing put back on.

I just hope it adheared correctly.. The sid skirts have bumps and scrapes that i didnt see before I painted them.. they would have been alot better had I sanded them down before painting them... ah well , live and learn on that one.
the spoiler turned out great only 1 or 2 spots where junk got in the paint... next time i paint something im going to take it into the garage and take the garden hose and spray down the inside of the garage to make sure no durt gets in the paint.
other that that little stuff im very pleased and cant wate till i get home so i can put them on the car.. its looking very bare now

Great job, but DON'T PAINT IN THE GARAGE -- fumes from auto paint, especially clearcoat, are really nasty stuff; you're essentially breathing solvent and acetone. Professional auto painters often wear full respirators when painting, because even a good face mask won't stop all of it.

oops sorry, i did not mean to insinuate that i would attempt to paint in a closed area. I would put a moisend heater filter in one window and a box fan pointed out in the other, and i would plan on wearing my charcole resperator that i used when i was painting this stuff out side!! yes the clear coat seemed to be very nasty, the color flew and stuck where as the clear coat seemed to create a cloud around me!

Well if its off it ant off by much.
the airfoil looks great, the side skirts look like a less copper version of the body color... i think it may be bacause of the angle but if the color is off, its not by much. I still think it would have looked better with a couple more coats of color on every thing but whats done is done for now!

my friend matt keeps trying to tell me to get the rear skirts.. if i find em cheap (under $60) I'd jump on it but im planning on buying a whole diffrent front end, rear bumper, and side skirts next summer for the summer time... so what you are seeing there is my winter gear.
