But what does the term JDM actually mean? Does it mean that the car was produced in Japan and only sold in Japan, or does it mean it was produced in Japan and sold elsewhere? If the first is correct then the Skylines sold in Japan would be EDM and not JDM. IF the second was true then they would all be JDM. Either way all Skylines that are sold in the US are JDM. They all arrive here as LHD, some are converted to RHD some aren't, but LHD or RHD they both either are or originate from cars not openly sold in the US and hence are JDM.

 

ive seen a smoked taillight thats not clear, and it looks pretty good because he had gunmetal rims.

 

I considered buying some altezza's, taking them apart, and painting the chrome either flat black or gunmetal. But then I changed my mind and just smoked mine. I'll stick with smoked until somebody manufactures a better option.

 

I believe the common definition of Japanese Domestic Market would mean items that are sold in Japan. Hence we have JDM/EDM STi headlights for 02-03, when they are both of Japanese manufacture. Therefore the skylines that are sold just in germany/europe as LHD would be called EDM while the RHD skylines sold in japan are JDM.

 

I think that was a good move, regardless of how good you can make the altezzas look, the plastic lens that covers the whole thing is still cheap as hell and nowhere as durable as the plastics that they use in oem lights =P

Well since we're talking about it...anybody wanna buy mine.

They were supposed to be flat black, but came black chrome. I thought about painting them, but ended up sticking them in the box and putting on the stockers...what a waste.

I wonder if my tailights are JDM or if they became JDM or started JDM and then now are not...haha...just kidding

its called DTM not EDM, you probably thought european domestic market

 

European STI headlights are referred to as EDM.

I'm not sure why you would use DTM to describe the market in which a vehicle is sold, Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft is a racing series in Germany that is similiar to Japan's JGTC. While i would say things are DTM style, as i can also say perhaps a part is JGTC style, i think it would sound a little wierd to say that my car is JGTC/DTM? And i did think european domestic market, because the "DM" type acronym can be and has been adapted to other markets by simply replacing the first letter(s).
