differences in crossbars- with and w/o tiedowns?

differences in crossbars- with and w/o tiedowns?
I am trying to solve a mystery: There are 2 different people selling "new" factory crossbar sets on EBay- 1 from an '05 Imprezza and the other "brand new OEM kit" for Imprezza (year not stated)
one is totally straight edged

the other has tiedown "loops" at each end

to add to the confusion Subaruparts.com shows the factory bars with loops, but in a different (squared off) shape.

this is just weird...
just trying to figure out why the diffrence
is somebody lying or did Subaru change the design mid-year
