I have a 99 OBS, a far cry from ur new wrx, but as far as I've seen from various threads, riding in wrx's and talking to people, I believe thats more or less normal. It's a relatively cheap car aimed at performance, so they sacrafice some things to attain that goal. They put in relatively non-precise materials because as they increase tolerances, prices go down. So they put in things that don't fit quite right (some will, others won't) and that causes them to be able to move, and therefore create creaking and rattling. As far as what you can do about it; I don't really know. I know for some of the varius rattles throughout the car, theres threads about silencing them, such as putting dynamat (type material) on some services, duct-taping some wires, or putting some padding between certain surfaces. Hope that helped some, and good luck!

I guess you could mention it to the dealership and ask them to make sure the console is properly secured by the factory clips. It pulls off in sections without tools but if you've never done it before, use some care when tugging on it.
