You're right, the trunks fit the same. As for the bumper / tail lights, ask Chibby Goku on here. He did a complete '02 to STi conversion recently.

i havent looked at any pics, but you might need to change out your rear quarter panels. if the 02/03 tail light shape is the same ( on the outer edge) as the 04 then you wont. aside form that you would need a different bumper.

I took a look at the tail lights on my friend's STi a couple of weeks ago, as I'm interested in getting a pair. From what I saw, the general shape is the same. The new lights actually come flush with the edges of the point they reside in (in the body panel). Also, the new lights are curved on the side in the same fashion as the body panels are.

I guess what I'm getting at, is that from what I saw, it seems to me that the newer tail lights will fit very easily into a bugeyed car. They seem to just be a nicer fit and flow with the panels in their newer design.

The new lights will not fit, they have a little circle on the underside that protrudes out so it will not work. Take a look at a picture.

i know that why imma use the 02 bumper and light, i am guessing it should. but i think on the 05 STi maybe no cause of the widened rear fenders.

Do we even know for sure if the new STi is gonna have widened fenders? Right now its all speculation.
