Bumper reinforcment
I have a SYMS front and rear bumper....they were able to shave the sideskirts to fit on my 2 door. Does anyone know if the lightweight bumper beams that Subaru makes will be enough for it to make it fit right? Or do i need to get the V. 5 bumper beam?
Has anyone else done the rear one, will the lightweight beam fit under that one ok also?
PLEASE HELP ASAP, my car is in the body shop waiting for my response!

i have a '98 RS. When the lady at my body shop called Subaru, they told her that they make 3 different beams....The one thats on my car now(the stock one), the lightweight one, then another(i just assumed it would be the V5 beam)....are you sure the V5=lightweight beam? I'd imagine the beam on a 99 is different than a 98 because of the bigger opening on the mouth, and they did not fit them with a lightweight one from the factory!!!!. Dunno, tell me what u think/know
Are you refering v5 beam as USDM 99 beam??
There are 3 front beams as Subaru says.
US98, US99, and JDM (aka.light weight). Maybe there is US95 too.
I assumed v5 as JDM because STi ver5 is JDM.
I can't promise but 99RS front should be fine, the rear will be hard to fit because the rear bumper on US models are about 2 inches longer, you should get lightweight one on the rear for sure.
You'll need to replace both F&R anyways.
JDM all around will be perfect.
JDM beams are not that expensive, it's less than $80 each.
It might be cheaper than 99RS ones.
I got the front from subaruparts.com.
I strongly recommentd JDM(aka.lightweight) because the difference in weight is huge.
