I've got a few scratches on my rig (mostly just clear coat) and they have gotten to the point of driving my crazy... So I checked out Wal-Mart today and saw the WALL of scratch products out there and figured I'd check with my suby peeps for their input... Input Please!!!

For home use, I recommend Adam's Polishes - Swirl & Haze Remover 16oz

If you have a PC and good at it, typically Menzerna SIP and NP should take good care of you. Otherwise there is always Menzerna Power Gloss as well. Remember, correct pad can help a long way without moving to different compound/polish.

use 80 grit sand paper. it will work best at hiding the little scratches you were worried about.

trust me you wont see the little scratches anymore.

 

you won't see much of the paint either...

 

if by hand, I'd go as far as using a bunch of meguair's scratchX. If by a machine polisher, rotary or random orbital, any mild or strong polish like the menzerna should do the job. sanding will probably eat up your clear coat!

 

ScratX is probably the only store bought product that might get you some decent results by hand. I haven't tried the new 3M products, but the old Swirl Remover worked well. Investing in an orbital or rotary is one of the few investments that pay off over time. Machine compounds from Menzerna are the only polishes for me since I have tried them. Their new cermaic clearcoat polish works extremely well, but I still like the flexibility of having their intensive polish and finishing polish and switching between orange and white pads for different cutting power. If your paint is getting long in the tooth, top it off with a finishing glaze to fill in the remaining swirls and scratches, which should be minimal even with only a PC.
