Autometer Twin Cluster Bezel Question

I was recently thinking about getting some guages, mainly a Boost guage and maybe an EGT guage. I did some searching and found this and liked it. I still want to keep my clock and I'm not a big fan of the A-pillar or just having the Boost Guage stuck onto the steering wheel column. 3 guages is too much, one is fine but maybe two might be best. Anybody have this? How was the install? Opinions?

I was also thinking about getting the Cobalt Boost and EGT guages, but I heard that the Autometer guages are crap and I should getter better ones like Defi or something. Any suggestions? Is the install easy? I'm kinda new at modding so should I take it to a pro or the dealer or something? Or stick it out and try it myself?

I just want something simple so I know what's going on under the hood. I don't want to "bling" out my ride either.

-Thanks

Ask Sisqocqk, he's got what you're pretty much asking about. He's got a sticky thread at the top of this forum that has a picture. Check it out. He really know's his stuff.

I love mine.....install was pretty easy...the instructions may be wrong on the orientation of the brackets...the large, flat flange goes towards the front of the car and attaches to the lower cluster mount screws....it can really only go one way.

Those look great!

jlquenga: So, how long did it take for them to install everything? Did you just hand them the guages and the bezel and asked them to install it? How are the guages? Good quality? Night shots? Again, VERY NICE.

KmanRuffian: Those are also very nice! But do you NEED the control unit? I don't really want to record the guage activity. I just want it to tell me whats going on at the time. Simple need.

I noticed that your WRX's are '02 or '03, but I have an '04, will they fit? I'm sure that they will since the inside didn't really change too much. Right?

Cluster bezel...

I ordered the gauges through them and when all the parts arrived, I just dropped off the car before work and then picked it up afterwards. Can't remember the actual length of installation time. I kinda like how the install matched up with the MOMO steering wheel. The boost gauge had some kind of condensation problem but its been awhile since the last time I noticed it.

Yeah you have to get the control unit. All the sensors run to the control unit and then a single wire runs from that to the first gauge and then a single wire runs from that guage to the next one. It's nice because you don't have to run a sensor wire to each gauge. Defi refer to it as "daisy-chain" wiring... All in all it did make installation easier, plus the conrtol unit looks pimp!

I'm not too sure about it fitting your '04, I would say call them up and ask them to be sure first...

Id get a twin cluster bezel but they only come in 52mm and I want 60mm, I think those would be a little too big for the dash.

I love mine. Put 52mm Omori Boost and EGT in there and it really could be mistaken for factory. The wiring is really convenient to the clock harness. I'll try to put pics up later.

Install notes...you might have to hit the gauge openings with a dremel to get the gauges in. My boost gauge slipped right in fairly snugly but the other side needed a fair amount of dremel-action to open up the hole but keep it snug.

I also plan to move the rubber dust guard from the stock bezel to the autometer one (with 3M double stick tape)...just because I'm ****.

Big thumbs up!
