Autometer Gauge Cluster Bezel Installed
Got it this afternoon, installed it tonight.
Despite a lot of griping on the forums about the bad fit of this part, I found that it did fit quite well.....IF you installed it correctly. This means use all the included screws and braces. Gee, imagine that....install a part following the directions and it actually works right
.
The Autometer bezel holds two 52mm gauges, in the lower corners of the bezel around the OEM cluster. Basically, all it blocks is the Low fuel light (you shouldn't be running it that low anyways) and the tach above 8000 RPM (if you're taching OVER 8000 RPMS, well you have things to worry about besides "Gee, I can't see what my tach is reading"
)
It's nice to have all the gauges I have (OEM cluster, Volt, EGT, factory boost pod with Omori gauge that reads in PSI) in ONE field of view. Lot easier to scan them there than on the pod in the middle of the dash.
Total install took about 2 hours with a dinner break in the middle. My gauge wiring to the center pod gauges was already done, but I did have to move/extend/cut some wiring to get it to work.
The OEM clock is back in the dash now. Looks a bit strange after not having it in the car in over a year!
If anyone wants to see it, I'm hoping to make it to the Big Dogs meet in San Jose tonight (Thurs 8/14) as well as to at least part of UCKK next Tuesday.
