auto dimming rearview mirror fade

I have an auto dimming mirror on my 02' wrx and it seems to have started fading. The blue tint on it does not appear near the edges. Does anyone know if this can be fixed or does the whole mirror need to go. Its only been a year and half (50,000 miles though). I have seen this on a 91' ls400 but that car is old. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Warranty? This surely is a warranty item if you are still within it. I also don't see how any mods could affect it. (So long as they don't have to do with the electrical system)

my mirror just faded like this does anyone know if its fixable? I was hoping its just a film of some sort that i can peel off and replace, any help would be great, thanks.

Nope when this happens the mirror is NG and needs to be replaced. You can take this as a opportunity to upgrade to a mirror with more features, look on Ebay and elsewhere for a Donnelly mirror with any combination of compass, temp, map lights etc. to replace the compass only one you have. Be sure to get one with the proper mount, which for Subaru is the "cam lock" type.
