95-99 painting a stock spoiler?

I picked up a mint green spoiler off of ebay for 30 bucks shipped and I need to get it painted white. I wanted to do all the prep work so it isn't so expensive. Anyone out there done this? I figure sand it with 220-300 grit paper and hit it with a few coats of primer. Then wet sand it with some even finer grit paper and take it to a shop to be hit with white paint... is that right? TIA, Tim

I'd only hit it with a scuff pad, and let the shop have it. You want to make sure that the appropriate primer is used, etc.
