2KRacing - Has anybody purchased from them?

I won a 2002 WRX and my alternator is goign bad. I think the voltage regularot is tosted cause I can drop below 12V when I have the AC on or the lights or even nothing at all. IT is strange.

Anyway the dealership said a new alternator is 425 bucks. Which is ridiculous. I found this site called 2KRacing here is the web page http://www.2kracing.com/product_info...oducts_id/3353 and they offer a high output alternator.

I am just scared cause I do nto know anybody that has purchased anythign from this place and I am worried about the alternator fitting my car. I have not seen any other place that offeres a alternator for the 2002 WRX. But their price is 319 dollars so that is 100 bucks cheaper than the dealership.

What do I do?

Has anybody made a purcahse from this place before?

Have you considered first having the problem professionally diagnosed before purchasing the alternator? Condition of battery cables clean and tight?

Sorry I did not win one. I own one.

Well I had it in to the dealer and he said that nothing was wrong with it. They supposedly tested it under full load and part load at different RPMs an everyhitng was within spec. The numbers seemed a little off to me at the time- But either way the problem is not consistent.

IT happens after the car is warmed up and typically causes a probelem when the lights and AC are both on. I seen my gauge drop down to 11 volts when I am stopped at a light and the AC and lights are on. Sometimes it even drops to 12V when nothing is running besides the engine.

I als seems to be worse when it is wet outside. But I son;t knwo what could be causing it. I have a radio and amps hooked up but they have been hooked up for a long time and this issue has not happened since when I did that.

I feel like it might be the voltage regulator. All I know is that at times it drops to below 12V and one time the car actually stalled out on me cause it was drainign the battery until it was dead. I do nto want it to happen again but do nto want to pay a total of 500 bucks for a factory new alternator installed by my dealer.

What do I do? I am thinking this other alternator sounds good but I have no idea if this place is reputable (2Kracing)

Still I grounded my two amps through a distributer block to the bolt under the rear seat that holds the seat belts in. I roughed up the pain some prior to installing. And I also used a larger guage wire to connect the negative side of the battery to the frame where the stock attaces to.

It does seem to be worse when wet but I can nto figure out what it is. IT seems to happen after the car is warm and it does not have to be wet- it happens when I have the AC on and the car is at idle liek at a light. Add the defroster or lights to the mix and it really drops. The stereo does nto seem to do anyhting when on or off but it still could be a issue I have no idea.

I did the one trick. I turned the car on and pulled the positive side off the battery. The car continued to run. I then turned on the AC and the rear defroster and the engine stopped. TO me that meas the alternator is nto functioning properly. Am I wrong in thinking that?
