05 STi cluster into any Pre-05 WRX
Anyone here done this?
The initial issues are: the left side plug doesnt fit, when you cut the offending piece off and plug it in, you will blow your radio fuse, hear an ear piercing beep, have a diff temp light on, have the ABS lights on and SOME people have the BRAKE light on.
Here's the culmination of things I've worked on so far
here's what I'm working on right now

here's my car's interior about a week before I bought it.
I had the original cluster put back in for registration purposes.
The previous owner had the STi gauges in and working and had to reverse the procedure to get the OEM gauges working.
From what I know, he's taped some butt connectors inside the loom to put the STi Cluster back in.
When I simply plug the cluster in I get a buzzing, ABS light, R-diff temp light and I blow the fuse for the radio.
I'm trying to understand the instructions the previous owner sent me. He said all he did was use some wiring and NO PCB board mods or any soldering to get it to work.
here's the thread he linked me to for the fix but this just outlines the rear-diff light problem, not the buzzing and blown fuses
threads of note.

here's the fix for blown fuses.
Still trying to find the fix for the buzzer.
They say 'C9' on the righthand side... but C9 is a left side plug.
Trying to get clarification
02 cluster on left, 05 on right. Notice the top plug has 2 extra pins. this makes counting the pins a bit difficult.

now it's just a matter of determining if it's C9 or A9 for the buzzer.
The buzzer is on the right side (A plug) and both the C-plug and A-plug have a pin-9
I'm waiting to talk to the guy that fixed his.
see how both the A-plug and the C-plug have at least 9 pins?
he says that the C9 on the RIGHT side is what fixes the problem.
The problem is, C9 when looking at the cluster opening would be on the LEFT side. Not to mention, plug C9 is different on the 02, the C9 on an 02 is 14 pin. on an 05 it's a 16 pin. C9 WOULD be the third pin on the right side from the top on an 02 cluster but the SECOND pin on the right side from the top on the 05 (or the top wire on an 02 Harness to match)
The BUZZER is on the RIGHT side of the cluster (under the speedo)
So, the big question is if it's actually A9 or C9...

good luck with this man.
i tried to tackle this myself. it was going to go into my 04 wrx. i shaved the left plug, unplugged the buzzer and got the temp sensor working but decided against reconfiguring the harness. i'll just get an 04 cluster lol.
